John worked as bookkeeper and treasurer of the local creamery, as well as other small businesses in the area. He was a very successful businessman as well, having diverse interests and holdings in Delaware County.¹

Julia M. Brown was born on January 31, 1839 at South Gilboa, she died in 1911 at Trout Creek. Both lie buried in the Trout Creek Cemetery.
