Ceylon Niles

Again our little community is saddened by the death of one whose life had been spent in this immediate vicinity. Ceylon Niles was born March 10, 1839, and died September 26, 1913. He was the sole survivor of the six children of Sarah Comstock and Thomas Niles, all the others having preceeded to the “Lando of the Hereafter”. June 27, 1866, he was married to Maria R. Smith and they were the parents of two sons, Harley C., now living in Syracuse, and Bertnal J. of Seelyville, Pa. Mr. Niles was a veteran of the Civil War, joining the army November, 1861, and serving three years and twenty-one days. As long as health permitted, he attended the meetings of Welden Post, G. A. R. of Richfield Springs, of which he was a member. The funeral was held at the home on Tuesday, September 30, with burial in Schuyler Lake cemetery. -Pleasant Valley Correspondent.
