during the mid 1920's and 30's until they were forced to sell the
farm as a result of some shady dealings with Lena's father who lost
his fortune during the depression. They relocated with there family
to Smyrna NY where they purchased another farm and prospered.
The following recollections are taken from notes from Lena J. (Teed)
Niles, who researched the Niles and related families for over 25 years.:
"Frank married on June 29, 1915, at
Trout Creek N.Y. Lena J. Teed, the daughter of Chester B. and Minnie (Finch)
Teed. She
had been a teacher in the Rural Schools for 5 yrs.
Frank was a dairy farmer and breeder of purebred
Holstein cattle, owning a large
dairy farm near Smyrna,
Chenango Co. N.Y., selling this one, and removing to one with larger buildings
at nearby Sherburne1. His son
John entered into a partnership following his fathers failing health. For a
time another son, Harold was involved with the farm operations."
